Introduced in 2001 by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), IGBC is the first green rating framework in India. It‘s vision is to enable a sustainable built environment for all . Also to facilitate India to be one of the global leaders in the sustainable built environment by 2025. From homes to commercial buildings, factories, healthcare, resorts, and townships, IGBC has several green building rating systems currently. The ‘Indian Green Building Council Accredited Professional Examination’ (IGBC AP) by IGBC offers to qualify professionals to participate in green building projects in India. IGBC AP is a credential for professionals (with at least 2 years of work experience) . IGBC AP – Associate is a credential for students and freshers. It denotes basic knowledge of green building design, construction, and operations. The IGBC AP examination is not based on any specific IGBC rating system. It is designed to test the knowledge of a candidate on green building design and construction. According to CII – Indian Green building Council – IGBC, there is a major shortage of qualified IGBC APs in India today. As on Jan 2022, India has about 5610 IGBC APs. Considering the growth of green buildings in India, the industry may need almost double the number of APs to handle various green building projects that are coming up.
